Private Airplane Hangar 150W UFO High Bay Lighting Case Study

This aircraft hangar lighting project involved a 50′ x 58′ x 12.5′ hangar that was originally lit with aging 8-foot fluorescent tubes. The customer wanted to improve visibility for aircraft storage and general workshop use, while achieving energy efficiency and modernizing the space.

Our lighting engineers and product specialists designed a complete upgrade using 100W LED UFO high bay lights, dividing the space into two functional lighting zones: the main hangar and the attached workshop.

Hangar Area

  • Average Light Level: 45 foot-candles
  • Max Light Level: 70 foot-candles
  • Target Light Level: 30–50 foot-candles

Workshop Area

  • Average Light Level: 88 foot-candles
  • Max Light Level: 108 foot-candles
  • Target Light Level: 70–100 foot-candles

As shown in the photometric renderings and real-world photos, the lighting exceeds expectations. The space is now evenly lit with no dark zones or shadows across the aircraft or work areas.
